FitNess: New Gym, New Challenges

New zipcode = New gym. Going to a new gym is like an awkward first date…
You spend months learning which treadmill is a bit shaky or which one doesn’t have all the channels. You know exactly where everything is and which people prefer to use which machines at exactly what time. Then, suddenly, you’re exploring unknown territory.
Unknown territory, though, can have its upside.  A poster child for cardio, I used to spend hours on the elliptical. No, seriously. So imagine my surprise when my new gym focuses on training with high-intensity intervals. My very first attempt, “Sam”, left my legs sorer than my two half marathons- combined!

When I’m starting, I always ask myself how I’ll ever finish. Trust me, it’s anything but flattering. Sweat. Blisters. Cursing like a sailor. Yet, the more challenging it is, the more rewarding when you’re done. The next time you’re at the gym, try something that scares you!
What do you do to keep your workouts challenging and fresh?
