Beautified: Nothing Spooky Here (Or is There?)

Goodbye, October. Let’s recap what I received in my boxes and if it was magical.

In October’s Boxycharm, I received:

Let’s start with the standout items.

Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser gives my favorite cleanser a run for its money. It’s super gentle on the skin but exfoliates as it washes away make-up. Another item that is threatening to become a regular favorite? The Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Smokey Eyes Mascara. I’m not sure if it reigns as the absolute top spot just yet, but it certainly lands on the top five mascaras I’ve tried. It lengthens, without clumping. Rounding out the top products is the Symbiosis London Tightening & Resplendent Eye Mask promises to reduce puffiness and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. And it smells divine. It has a sweet, almost cinnamon scent to it.

Not every item was love at first try. I was a little skeptical of the Spongelle Cherry Tonka Musk Body Wash Infused Buffer. But, I was surprised by the smell. It does take a little while to soften, but it smells delicious. And, once it softens, it is great for exfoliation. I’ve used it a handful of times and the smell hasn’t faded yet. I was also on the fence about the Pretty Vulgar Nesting B!#%H Face Palette. Turns out, it is seriously a one-stop palette. It covers your bronzer, highlight, and blush in one palette. And, they can be used as eye shadows too — making it perfect for traveling.

Tarte Maracuja Miracle Mist Setting Spray and Doucce Ultra Precision Eyeliner are both products that are reminiscent of other products I already own, like the Tarte Shape Tape Stay Spray and the Doucce Fierce and Fine graphic pen. And like the products I already own, they’re tried and true products that deliver.

And finally, the losers.

I could absolutely do without the R+CO Waterfall Moisture + Shine Lotion. Not only is the smell off-putting, but it also left my hair oily with the product. The Oryza Beauty Astral Amethyst Shimmer Eyeshadow had really pretty shades. But the pigmentation is underwhelming, they fade quickly, and it’s simply not worth it. Unlike the other two items, the brush is completely fine. I just can’t rave about a brush.
