FitNess: New Year, New You!

Ah, the influx of New Year’s go-getters are ready to overtake the gym. Whether you are just starting or getting over a holiday hang-up, here are some tips to get you in the right frame of mind when beginning a fitness routine.
 
– Start slowly
It will prevent burnout and, more importantly, injury.
 
– Just sign up already!

– Eat for success
Putting yourself on a starvation strict diet will drain you of your energy. Opt for healthier choices, like whole-grains or lean protein, that will help fuel your gym sesh.
 
– Gear up
The last thing you need to be worrying about is a shirt that rides up or tripping over your long pants. Invest in proper shoes and sweat-absorbent (think Dri-Fit) clothing.  
 
– Keyword: Routine
When training, I put my daily target mileage in my day planner. My bag (plus extra workout clothes) are a constant passenger in my car. These steps help make going to the gym part of my routine.
